On Saturday morning, April 30, 2016, Hasbrouck Heights held their 15th Annual Free Shredding Event at The Boulevard and Central Avenue parking lot. Residents and businesses brought in a record 10,465 pounds of confidential documents to be shredded since the program began in 2008. The previous record was 9,180 pounds set in 2001.
The weight gets filed with the state and goes toward the Boroughs paper recycling tonnage grant. The town typically has two shredding events a year. This event was sponsored by the Bergen County Utilities Authority and the other by the Boroughs recycling vendor in the fall.
